Scotian Homes and the New Homes Construction Rebate
Scotian Homes was on hand for the announcement by the NS Government that the New Home Construction Rebate would go into effect as of August 12, 2009.
This exciting new incentive will benefit you the consumer, by providing up to $7,000 in cash rebate from the Province just for building your new home!
The New Home Construction Rebate is a one-time rebate equivalent to 50 per cent of the provincial portion of the HST, to a maximum of $7,000 on newly built homes.
The program is designed to kick start the economy and keep tradespeople at home.
What homes are eligible for the rebate?
- homes built on land you owned before construction started
- homes built on land owned by the builder
- manufactured homes installed for you on property you are leasing, such as in a mobile home park
How do I know if I qualify for the rebate?
You may qualify if:
- you will be living in your new home on a permanent basis
- the municipal building permit is dated on or after January 1, 2009 and before April 1, 2010 and
- you have completed construction or closed the sale by the March 31, 2010 deadline
How many people are eligible for the rebate?
The rebate will be availalbe to a maximum of 1,500 people constructing their own homes or buyers of newly built homes. Only one rebate per home owner.
How long will the rebate be offered?
The rebate ends March 31, 2010.
